Our RV-9a Page
EAA Chapter 663 fly-in to KSFO
Why are did we building an RV-9a?
Fast ... Once you start flying a fast machine like a Mooney, an Archer just seems slow.
(and our club sold our Mooney)
The RV goes fast on a little gas...
Efficient ... 130mph + on 5 gph or near 200 mph on 8gph.
The 9 stalls 10 mph slower than the 7 and we spend a lot of time in the mountains
(energy is disportinate to the velocity
- The slower you go, the less it hurts when you hit something).
The 10 cost a lot more (mostly the engine and prop) and usually it's just the two of us...
There are over 6000 RVs flying...
We can maintain it...
We lost our mind???
Flies like a dream!
